This dog living in South Carolina ran away from her home but managed to find her way back. While this isn’t a surprising tale altogether, knowing how sharp a dog’s instinct can get, the astonishing thing about this is the manner upon which the canine alerted her owners that she was back. Because believe it or not, the canine rang her owner’s doorbell at 3 a.m. to inform them she was there!
Rajah, the dog in question, was missing for seven hours after she was frightened by the sound of fireworks that emanated from her Greenville, South Carolina neighborhood. In an interview with SWNS, Mary Lynn, her owner, shared that the pup was hanging out in their backyard together with their other dog when their neighbors lighted up some fireworks. She knew straight away that her pet would get scared – so when she checked the backyard, Rajah was nowhere in sight.
Immediately, the 23-year-old pet owner took to Facebook to post about the missing 18-month-old canine. She and her husband Ryan also drove around to look for Rajah and even got their neighbors to join in on the search.
Lynn added that they were considering calling the shelters after a fruitless hunt that went for hours. But lo and behold – Rajah just showed up, ringing their doorbell. The entire incident was caught on via their security camera, where the pup could be seen jumping up and sticking her face to push the doorbell at 3 a.m. on June 27.
According to Lynn, they didn’t know how Rajah learned how to do that because she never showed her how. Usually, the pup doesn’t go out to their front yard except when they have to go to the car, so she has never seen them use the doorbell. Ryan had to wait and see if the dog would pop up – and as soon as he saw her on the porch, he darted and got ahold of her.
The little stowaway knew she was in trouble, but her family was just glad she was back. Lynn described how Rajah looked sad and was sulking as if fearing for the worst. Thankfully, the beloved canine was not reprimanded, and her family got a good laugh out of what happened.
When asked about where Rajah might have wandered off while she was missing, the couple said they had no idea where she spent that time in between. She did, however, return home looking dirty with thorns on her head and smelling of poop – which suggested she might have had a great time while she was away.
