Getting our pet doggos involved in our hobbies is probably one of the best things that we could experience as dog parents. We get to enjoy our hobby, but we wouldn’t feel guilty about leaving our fur babies at home, and we all know how our pups feel about being left at home.
This is exactly what was on Jamie Hegge’s mind when she decided to still take her senior doggo, Hannah, on hiking trips. Hiking is obviously physically demanding, and older dogs who could barely make it up a flight of stairs shouldn’t be involved in this type of hobby.
But the 39-year-old veteran doesn’t give up easily. Perhaps Jamie understands that her pooch does not have a lot of time left on earth, so she wanted to make her final years extra special. Hannah has undergone surgery on her hind legs, and she has got arthritis, so she couldn’t walk fast or far.
To get over this hurdle, Jamie fashioned an open backpack where the elder pooch could just sit and enjoy the view. The veteran is a tough mom so she doesn’t mind the extra weight on her back. Plus, it’s clear to see that Jamie would do anything just to make Hannah happy, and it’s clear that the pooch is ecstatic.
Hannah has got one of those “smiling dog faces” and it’s just lovely to look at. We’re pretty sure she wouldn’t be so happy if she was just left at home while her mother went on hiking trips. Jamie adopted Hannah from a shelter back in 2016 and boy is this pup lucky to have Jamie as her human.
The doggo was already old when Jamie took her in, and this video just proves that she knew what she really was getting into and she’s ready to give Hannah a happy life until her final days.
