Everyone knows that dogs are not just jolly furbabies but also friendly critters. Their curiosity and inherent warmth make them want to befriend animals of other species. So, you’ll often hear stories of dogs making friends with a duck, a monkey, and even a koala!
In Loveland, Colorado, a Great Pyrenees managed to make friends with someone who is much bigger and more massive than him — and elk. The pup seemed fascinated with the gentle giant he had crossed paths with.
The pup meeting the elk
A woman named Lauren Sturges saw some cars stopping on the road close to her property. But upon closer inspection, she realized that they were not cars but elks treading the snow.
Lauren decided to go towards the spot where the elks were. She brought Winston, her five-year-old Great Pyrenees. When she reached the fence bordering her property, she found the elks scattered throughout and resting.
The big animals were not too keen on noticing Lauren. But for some reason, a few of them seemed to be interested in Winston. Lauren said that two different elks went to Winston and even gave the pup a kiss on the nose. So cute!
It was beautiful and magical
Lauren documented her dog’s encounter with the elks on camera. She said that the meeting was so beautiful that she was even almost in tears.
In her video, you could see Winston sitting on one side of the fence. An elk approached the dog, who suddenly appeared small. Then, the two took turns sniffing each other; their noses even touched. The impromptu encounter then ended with a small kiss.
Lauren watched the entire interaction to make sure that neither of the two would become hostile nor aggressive towards each other. Thankfully, what Lauren worried about didn’t happen.
Lauren lastly added that the whole interaction was magical. Make your heart flutter by watching the video below!
